Whats up...

This is what's up:

I am quilting the last quilt top my Grammy made-by hand of course. Still working on Patchwork Pennies, trying to decide which quilting contest to enter and getting ready for Church Ladies sewing class tomorrow. Ladies, remember to bring you quilt block ideas!

Still trying to decide what quilt to make for St Patrick's Day.

I am attending a 4 day  Entrepreneur Training Symposium next week, and taking some more Project Management Certification Classes later in the month.

Also deciding the order of projects for the Granddaughters Birthday  (on St Patrick's Day), and then what I will work on until I start Christmas stuff July1st.

What is on your list of what's up?

As Life turns...

Sometimes life throws wrenches in our plans. This would be last week. Very little progress was made on the patchwork pennies..although some.

Some of my pre-order/backorders have arrived and need to be put away. I have scheduled some extra time in the room this week to make up for the minimal time last week ; still my half-hour a day! It is not good when I don't get that half hour...especially during monkey wrench navigation, stress relief is necessary!

I am also working on some alterations, sometimes I marvel (yes this is a sarcastic comment) at the way things are made--it seems they are purposefully made in a manner to make them hard to alter. After a few practice runs with muslin--almost ready to rip and cut and re-make. Have any of you run across this?

Mystery Quilt is done!

Well, it took a bit longer than planned. But the Mystery quilt is now done. I am going to make matching pillow covers (this quilt is for my living room couch.) And the quilt is square—I just have two quality inspectors (cats) that look at a quilt on the floor like kids do a pile of leaves in the fall. You have to be really quick to get a good picture; I was not quite fast enough.

Work on the Patchwork Pennies will now speed up. Prayers shawls are about to the right timing, they will work in tandem with the Patchwork Pennies.

I am still deciding on the pattern for a Saint Patrick’s Day quilt. And doll clothes patterns for the 18” Birthday doll. I also need to get on cutting scrap. There are a few Scrap Therapy projects I want to do, but do not have enough of the right colors of scrap cut. And I have more than enough scraps that need cutting and sorting. If you haven’t taken a basic Scrap therapy class, it would be a good thing to do. It really makes your scrap more useable and your sewing space more organized and compact.

The church ladies group is still looking for block patterns for their friendships quilts before our next class. I have a bit of mending and alteration to do this week as well, so off I go, so maybe more pics next weekend.
Have a Sew-Happy week!

Last round of border quilting done!

So the last round of border quilting is done. Pinning the binding is the next job, then hand-sewing the binding. The Patchwork pennies quilt is calling wanting desperately for me to work on it. Although it has been so unseasonably warm and dry, he is worried he won’t get enough use. He really has nothing to fear, because an almost three-year-old (granddaughter) will make a tent out of any quilt or blanket  J

A St patty’s day quilt is forming in my head…and two prayer shawls await their proper timing. Some other projects are also hoping they are up when the patchwork pennies is done. Oh, I almost forgot—doll clothes and an apron for the St Patty’s day birthday girl (it’s safe—she can’t read my blog quite yet)

Yes, there is a never ending stream of projects ready in the sewing room. So off to pinning I must go. I am also going to make some matching pillow covers with the scraps from the mystery quilt. Then the rest of the scrap will go in the scrap therapy bucket for cutting and sorting.
